Brazil Monte Carmelo • Organic
Earthy sweetness, heavenly scent
Monte Carmelo is one of the finest examples of Brazilian coffee.
Monte Carmelo is grown in the misty highlands northwest of Rio
where the warm days and cool, rainy nights are perfect for coffee.
This large screened coffee is "dry processed" in a manner similar
to methods used in Ethiopia for thousands of years. The
beans are spread to dry in the sun with the cherry of the bean
still attached which imparts an earthy, nutty sweetness to the
bean. The deep, satisfying aroma of Monte Carmelo is reason
enough to enjoy this coffee. This pleasantly mild coffee
with its medium body and light, unassuming acidity, has a hint
of citrus blending with the subtle earthy undertones. The
earth tones which are imparted by its processing method remain
constant throughout its slightly sweet finish. Monte Carmelo
is a coffee that can stand on its own merits, both as a medium
roast and as a dark roast. In addition, it is ideally suited
for blending and is a major component of most espresso blends.
